Steward of Ecological Engagement

Our mission

Caring for and connecting neighborhood families with resources to grow their own food, strengthen relationships, and become ecological stewards.

What we do

We started out as a seed of an idea in 2015 and have since settled into comprehensive community care focused on food resiliency. Our programs provide resources for families to grow produce, access free food, strengthen neighborhood connections, and become ecological stewards.

Entering our sixth year, our team is expanding, as is our volunteer base, beneficiary base, resource base, and geographic reach.

Grow Nashua started using a single underutilized lot at St. Joseph's Hospital and has now grown to accommodate a large transect of the city's population in serve different neighborhoods. Through connection with Nashua's most underserved families we have a feedback loop to listen to the ever-changing community needs and adapt our programming accordingly. In 2020 our "Growing Spaces" hosted 255 residents who consumed 3,000 pounds of food. "Growing Education" adapted efficiently reaching 400 students both in person and virtually with garden, nutrition, and cooking curriculum. Our "Lil' Free Farmstand" gathered 1,300 pounds of excess veggies from Nashua resident gardeners that was shared with 80 families in the French Hill neighborhood. Curbside Compost diverted 100,000 pounds of food waste from the city's landfill and created local green jobs.

By putting down the roots for others that do not have the means we are able to share this enriching experience with others and simultaneously strengthen the neighborhoods of Nashua.
