What we need
  • Up to 3 customized and professionally designed graphic(s)

We need graphics that easily convey the risks to our groundwater supply (aquifer) due to both a large number of abandoned wells, and the proposal of a dangerous and dirty oil extraction technique known as cyclic steam. We have scientific drawings of the geologic layers and what's happening underground - but we want graphics that are easier for a lay person to understand with clear and compelling calls to action.

What we have in place
  • We currently have scientific maps/graphics of the aquifer/underground oilfield, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a clear call to action and an ideas on presentation, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,002 , allowing us to focus our efforts on what we do best - legislative advocacy - while having images that help us communicate a really complex topic effectively.

Across the state of California, our precious groundwater resources are being threatened by oil and gas drilling, past and present. Oil derelict oil wells create pathways for petroleum to seep into our groundwater. New drilling techniques threaten to destabilize the geologic formation that keep clean water from mixing with undrinkable water underground. Meanwhile, oil companies push forward without regard to the future of California's remaining clean water.

Milestone 1: Preliminary Design
  • Professional drafts three graphics using different themes to share with the Volunteer Manager
  • Volunteer Manager chooses one draft as a primary theme and provides feedback

Milestone 2: Graphic Creation
  • Professional provides Volunteer Manager with first draft of graphic
  • Volunteer Manager provides Professional with up to two rounds of feedback

Milestone 3: Final Graphic Delivered
  • Professional delivers final version of the graphics and explains how to upload image(s) to the Organization’s chosen platform(s)
