Project Details

What We Need
  • Ongoing web development support for 10-15 hours over the course of 4 weeks
  • Support may include: website maintenance, updates or improvements
  • Note: We devised this project to connect nonprofits and volunteers for more flexible, more immediate impact. We strongly suggest you start with 4 weeks and decide from there if you'd like to continue working.
Additional Details

I am looking for someone to help set up an e-commerce store to add to our existing website.

What We Have In Place
  • We currently have a squarespace website, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have logo's and other branded designs to use, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How This Will Help
This project will save us $3,757 , allowing us to plant more floating gardens with native plants to restore habitat and help clean the Chicago River.

This project will help us advertise and market our brand to a broader audience. We currently have merch that our network is interested in but have not successfully set up an online option to purchase.

  • Volunteer Manager provides overview of ongoing web development need they have over the next 2-4 weeks

  • Both parties review our pro-tips for Organizations and Volunteers to ensure the project is set up for success

Step 1: Ongoing Support
  • Volunteer delivers ongoing support according to determined outline
  • Weekly check-ins to ensure support is being offered as agreed upon by both parties

Step 2: Training & Offboarding
  • Volunteer provides any relevant training to the Volunteer Manager to help them continue work, as necessary, after 4 weeks

What We Do

Urban Rivers' has installed 2,000 square feet of floating gardens on the Chicago River since 2017 and is now focused on building out an urban wildlife sanctuary, the Wild Mile.

Urban Rivers' current objectives:
- Increase habitat
- Improve water quality
- Inspire innovation
- Educate the public

...All while beautifying the Chicago River!
