What we need
- Ongoing web development support for 10-15 hours over the course of 4 weeks
- Support may include: website maintenance, updates or improvements
- Note: We devised this project to connect nonprofits and volunteers for more flexible, more immediate impact. We strongly suggest you start with 4 weeks and decide from there if you'd like to continue working.
Additional details
Our bee and flower protection relies much on geographical information. We want to display GIS-Dataset (shapefiles and layers) as a maplet on our website (Wordpress with custom theme). We imagine it in a way that a map-layer, a topographical layer, a detailed layer of shapefiles (natural regions) and a less detailed layer of shapefiles (greater regions) can be switched off and on. It would be great if the maplet could then also be integrated into our partner's sites.
What we have in place
- We currently have Shapefiles and the eco-geographical know-how, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have Wordpress running and staff who understand a bit GIS, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,757 , allowing us to take another step to promote seed regionalization further into localization and establish necessary techniques.
Biodiversity has three dimensions: diversity of species, diversity of habitats and genetic diversity within species. Most people only think of the first, whereas the latter is evenly important when it comes to resilience of species to changing environmental conditions (can you think of one?). We don't want to promote unified flower seed across the country, but regional seeds and plants for people to plant in their gardens, farms and community centers. This requires people to understand thematter
