Project details
What we need
- A high-resolution digital version of an illustration that can be used across multiple channels (web, print, and/or merchandising)
Additional details
Looking to develop 10-20 silhouettes of plant species that people can use as coloring pages. We can provide plant information and photos for reference. We can also provide information about what kind of ecosystem values each plant provides (e.g. bird habitat, pollinator food source) to inspire a more detailed or expansive image for people to color. Ideally each coloring sheet will include the silhouette and 2-4 sentences about the plant's ecological and cultural importance.
What we have in place
- We currently have a list of plant species and plant photos, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have information on ecological relationships for each plant, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to connect more people than ever with the river and to engage people in new ways (e.g. art vs. volunteering).
Our organization engages over 500 people each year in restoring river habitat; volunteers help plant native plant species that improve the river ecosystem. We are looking for ways to virtually engage volunteers during the COVID-19 outbreak and keep them connected to the river. These coloring sheets will allow volunteers to continue to learn about native plants and how they benefit river habitat while sheltering at home. Art is also a good activity for kids who need a break from screen time.
Project plan
Our mission
The mission of the Coastal Watershed Council is to protect and preserve coastal watersheds through community stewardship, education and monitoring.
What we do
The San Lorenzo River runs right through downtown Santa Cruz, but the community isn't really drawn to this river. CWC is improving water quality and habitat and hosting family and youth-friendly events to improve public safety and environmental conditions, transforming this park into a cultural and natural asset that Santa Cruz is drawn to and proud of.
Testimonials
Kentaro was a great volunteer. He created a beautiful graphic product for us. Kentaro was very easy to work with and was very open to feedback and modifications throughout the project.
