What we have in place
- We currently have examples for illustrations we have used for similar project, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have concepts/ideas for the illustrations, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,212 , allowing us to use the funds for strategy meetings, direct actions, and community engagement.
We are putting together a training workbook around climate justice. We need compelling images that covey the message we have for each activity. There are four activities, and the cover image. We are looking for 4-6 illustration that will give participants of the training an idea of what they are going to learn.
Project plan
Our mission
The Just Transition Alliance (JTA) serves people of color, Indigenous Peoples and low-income communities living under the threat of polluting industries; and workers, in the service, energy, farmworker, and chemical sectors. JTA also focuses on community education, awareness and action that aims to ameliorate the lack of knowledge and the lack of choices that our communities and workers face when dealing with unwarranted toxic trespasses.
What we do
The Just Transition Alliance (JTA) serves people of color, Indigenous Peoples and low-income communities living under the threat of polluting industries; and workers, in the service, energy, farmworker, and chemical sectors. JTA also focuses on community education, awareness and action that aims to ameliorate the lack of knowledge and the lack of choices that our communities and workers face when dealing with unwarranted toxic trespass.
One of our main objectives is shifting toward a sustainable economy that does not compromise people and our environment, one that is driven by those at the frontline and on the fencelines of unsustainable production. Our goal is to transition to local and regional economic models that service their population. We will only achieve this by transitioning away from unsustainable methods and practices that exacerbate the disproportionate impact that toxic chemicals have on communities of color and Indigenous Peoples.
Grounding our work in organizing and community building around the health and safety threats to workers, JTA believes we will reach our goal by helping workers and communities to unite and create a just transition from toxic-reliant industries and products to industries that adopt and utilize clean production processes. A Just Transition moves toward a safer and cleaner economy and workplace that is guided by laws that will require direct action on the worst chemicals, health and safety information for all chemicals, and a health-based standard that protects the most vulnerable populations and workers first.
Testimonials

Nikole was great and easy to work with, and I enjoyed creating illustrations for a cause that I feel strongly about! It is extremely satisfying to feel that I was able to do something, however minor, about the troubling issues around fossil fuels that we are facing today.
