Remote or Hybrid Work Team Strategy
Remote or Hybrid Work Team Strategy
Project details
What we need
- A 1-2 page written document that summarizes the Organization’s needs and goals for effective remote/hybrid work
- Best practices and tips for the Organization’s remote staff members, including recommendations on the best virtual collaboration tools, such as Slack, Google apps, Zoom, etc.
- Recommendations for managing projects with remote/hybrid staff, including how to set up a digital workspace for easy collaboration, and how to establish communication styles and structures that support effective teamwork
Additional details
Our organization has grown from a one person shop to 3 people who work remotely. We should have a system to lay out project milestones and budget performance for projects or by funder. As I seek to hire or engage a volunteer marketing assistant that person needs to support all projects. I would also like to develop an expense tracker for everyone without sharing our bookkeeping file.
What we have in place
- We currently have workplans and a 5 year strategic plan and use Quickbooks., which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a website for providing general program information, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $1,896 , allowing us to save time in the future and avoid making costly mistakes in time or judgement, and to be able to deploy more brainpower and enthusiasm for strategic planning and implementation.
This project should help remote staff from feeling as isolated as they might and keep track of expenses with a better sense of control. It will help me worry less about what I might forget to share, and to allow marketing, bookkeeping or fundraising volunteers or staff support everyone across programs.

Our mission
"Supporting professionals who study, protect and manage North America's rivers."
The River Management Society (RMS) is the nation's premier network connecting those who work on and for rivers with their river professional peers, including outfitters and guides, rangers, planners and landscape architects, fluvial geomorphologists, environmental lawyers and policymakers, students, professors, researchers and authors.
What we do
RMS offers training workshops and series of 'conversations' on topics ranging from managing wild and scenic rivers and their specific river values (scenery, recreation, culture, fish and wildlife) to addressing the overwhelming need to welcome and embrace the cultural and ethnic diversity of the public who visit rivers and rely on them for sustenance. We host the National Rivers Project, an ever-growing geospatial map which allows visitors to 'shop' over 2000 for river trips on wild and scenic rivers, water trails and whitewater rivers. RMS and its members offer year-round mentorship, avenues to pursue river internships and permanent job opportunities to students who love rivers and being outside,. We are extremely proud of our multi-disciplinary River Studies and Leadership Certificate through ten universities and colleges in the U.S.
Testimonials
Katie was a pleasure to work with. She provided excellent suggestions and tools to help our small non profit work effectively as remote teammates.
It was great to work with Risa! She came prepared for all meetings and was open to the new ideas that were suggested. I would highly recommend working with Risa if you get the chance.
