Project details

What we need
  • Boilerplate descriptions of Organization or program (50-, 100-, and 200- word versions)
  • List of keywords to use & words to avoid when writing about Organization or program
Additional details

Citizens Committee for New York City is a unique organization that does complicated work. We want to explore how to describe what we do in a way that is comprehensive, compelling, and easy to follow, while not being overwhelmingly long.

There are many aspects of our work that we feel are important to touch on, but being so familiar with what we do ourselves and not messaging experts, it is hard to know the best ways to explain the organization.

What we have in place
  • We currently have general organization descriptions, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have 45 years of messaging materials, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,002 , allowing us to provide more micro-grants to our network of grassroots groups, for whom $4,212 is a lot of money.

It is clear to us that stakeholders often do not fully follow what we do.

We need potential donors - corporate, foundation, and individual - to read about our mission without getting lost in the weeds or their eyes glazing over. Because we facilitate the work of grassroots groups, people do not understand what we are responsible for and sometimes think we are simply re-granting funds.

We also want residents of low-income communities to better understand what we can offer them.
