Website Technical Updates
Website Technical Updates
Project details
What we need
- Updates and/or fixes to Organization’s existing website (e.g., bug fixes, plugin or widget integration, etc.)
- Training for up to 3 Organization staff members on how to resolve minor issues going forward (if applicable)
Additional details
Oikonos is seeking an expert in WPML plugin for WordPress websites. We manage a website in Spanish and English and have used WPML for many years, however, the plugin has changed considerably. We need an expert to evaluate the settings and teach us how to troubleshoot some issues. Our technical level with WordPress is advanced basic (we are biologists).
What we have in place
- We currently have an active wordpress and wpml account, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have a list of issues, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,757 , allowing us to apply these resources to on the ground habitat restoration and studies that will protect threatened species.
Oikonos' mission is to study and protect imperiled ecosystems. Half of our operations and staff are in Chile. Managing a bi-lingual website for a small non-profit with no technical staff is cumbersome. We need to create efficient work flows and tools so we can retain a current web presence and be a resource for our partners and the public.
Project plan
Our mission
Oikonos studies and protects imperiled ecosystems by engaging diverse communities through innovative scientific and artistic collaborations.
What we do
We work in locations throughout the Pacific applying expertise in five priority areas: Biodiversity Conservation, Habitat Restoration, Ecosystem Science, Conservation Tools, and Career Training & Education.
Oikonos' goals are as varied as our projects, but across all programs we endeavor to accomplish the following:
(1) Protect breeding habitats, food webs, and populations.
(2) Improve the conservation status of threatened species.
(3) Incorporate biodiversity and ecosystem knowledge into policies and society.
(4) Create lasting stewardship of critical habitats and wildlife through community partnerships.
(5) Establish transdisciplinary collaborations that develop tools and solutions.
