Website Audit
Website Audit
Project details
What we need
- Feedback on the current website’s layout, user functionality, mobile-friendliness, visual design, content, and other key features
- Clear articulation of the Organization’s goals for the website
- Recommendations for improvements to help achieve the Organization’s desired goals
- Note: If you are looking for a more specific, in-depth audit of your website's design and usability, try our Website Usability Audit project
Additional details
Our Surfrider chapter needs a website overhaul and our hope would be that this project will outline the scope of changes needed to improve the website. The website is in WordPress using a template that National Surfrider requires. Our knowledge of Wordpress is limited and it has been a challenge navigating it as we learn how to use WP. Following this audit, we will post a second project for a website update to help implement the suggested changes outlined in the audit.
What we have in place
- I'm not sure what we can provide or what is needed. We currently have one person minimally managing the website, and learning WordPress. We have never used Catchafire before, so this process is new to us.
How this will help
This project will save us $4,762 , allowing us to continue to put our limited resources and volunteer time into our core programs of beach cleanups, water testing, educational events and policy monitoring and outreach.
Our website is a core tool to communicate the identity of our organization, outreach to members and the public, and provide information to help the public get involved on relevant issues.
Project plan
Our mission
Surfrider Foundation San Mateo County (SMC) is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.
What we do
Surfrider SMC protects our ocean locally in many ways: through monitoring water pollution, partnering with local businesses to reduce single-use plastics, engaging the public in beach cleanups and more.
Testimonials

Kimberly was truly a joy to work with. She was very responsive, in spite of her busy schedule. In addition to being open to feedback, Kimberly always showed up to our meetings with questions and thoughts from the board and their interim website developer. Kimberly made it easy to communicate with the website developer once he joined the team. I was able to easily pass my audit notes on to the developer thanks to Kimberly. She and I developed such a bond (also sharing the same birthday) that we would occasionally check in on one another even after the project was complete. We even were able to meet in person during my trip across country in September 2020. Kimberly is one of the most genuinely kind people I've ever met. She's dedicated, hard working, and passionate about her work. Given the opportunity, I'd certainly welcome the chance to work with Kimberly again.
